WHEREVER YOUR MISSION NEEDS TO BE
Moog is thrilled to be exhibiting at Space Tech Expo Europe, which has quickly established itself as the prominent meeting place for the space industry and will welcome more exhibiting companies than any other space event globally in 2023. Moog is pleased to highlight its commitment to the European and Global markets, meet with our international customers, and show the latest innovations in our Space Sector.
We look forward to meeting you at booth L20 November 14-16 in Bremen, Germany.
UK Space Programme
Moog UK, in partnership with Lockheed Martin and the UK Space Agency, anticipates the first scheduled launch of the Small Launch Orbital Manoeuvring Vehicle (SL-OMV) as part of the UK Spaceflight Programme. Moog’s robust operations in Reading, UK will perform the final integration and test of the SL-OMV while serving the local supply chain. Moog recently expanded its Reading facility from 33,000 square feet to 43,000 and added additional equipment including, a Class ISO8 (100k) Cleanroom, thermal chamber, and GPS antenna to support this program and future missions.
Partnership with Unibap
Located in Uppsala, Sweden, Unibap is a key technology partner for Moog's advanced avionics and computing solutions. Their successful on-orbit heritage for GPU-based products has been integral in Moog’s development of radiation-tolerant, high-performance, Space VPX GPU solutions. Moog has leveraged Unibap’s expertise on commercial missions, D-Orbit flights, and upcoming ESA/NASA opportunities to provide solutions for space-based architectures needed for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.
55+ Year Commitment to International Space Customers
Moog is a forerunner in the space industry, suppling our customers with quality performance vehicles, systems, and components in advanced avionics, space propulsion, environmental control, life support systems, mechanisms, shock and vibration isolation, and structures, like ESPA. Moog works collaboratively with its international customers to solve the most technical challenges. We have supported the European space market for more than 55 years, including providing the chemical propulsion system for all Galileo satellites, as well as components for the European Service Module for Artemis.
Moog Features at Space Tech Expo
Space Vehicles
Moog offers a variety of Space Vehicles that can fit your unique payload and launch needs. Our spacecraft platforms and tugs leverage decades of experience in spacecraft avionics, flight software, propulsion, and structures. Novel configurations offer flexibility to tackle challenging missions of nearly any flight profile or mission type. Green propellant propulsion systems in the smaller platforms and traditional storable hydrazine propellant in the larger platforms provide the capability for several different missions across a wide range of orbits.
Advanced Avionics
Looking forward to the future of on-orbit space computing applications, Moog offers high-performance, next-generation processor and memory products. This complements our legacy spacecraft capabilities in command and data handling, power management, GPS receivers, and more. Moog is collaborating with Unibap, a Swedish based technology partner, in the development of advanced-computing solutions for space applications. Unibap’s successful flight heritage for graphics processor-based products has been integral in Moog’s development of radiation-tolerant, high-performance, Space VPX solutions. This technology is critical in space-based architectures needed for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.
Environmental Control and Life Support Systems
Moog produces a variety of fluid control components for environmental control and life support systems (ECLSS) for regulation of breathing gases, thermal management, and waste removal. The components include mechanical pressure regulators, manual and electrically actuated valves, and passive components such as quick disconnects. Moog has been producing hardware in support of NASA’s Orion Crew Module and the Lunar Gateway. Moog’s capabilities extend beyond components that just deliver system-level solutions. By combining components with structures, plumbing, and electrical control, Moog delivers integrated and fully tested packages that can be installed in space vehicle systems.
ESPA
Moog developed the Evolved Secondary Payload Adapter (ESPA) to reduce launch costs for primary missions, while enabling additional payload. The ESPA can be stacked on top of itself multiple times, enabling the launching of dozens of auxiliary payloads at once. ESPA mounts to the standard NSSL (formerly EELV) interface bolt pattern (Atlas V, Falcon 9, Delta IV, OmegA, Vulcan, New Glenn) and is a drop-in component in the launch stack. (Waiting on Paul Zamprelli, to reply with a list of missions this was on.)
SoftRide
Our SoftRide systems have been providing custom vibration isolation solutions for components and whole spacecraft for more than 20 years. Now joining that legacy of proven performance is the SoftRide Family, a collection of “ready for flight” off-the-shelf isolators designed for emerging space markets. Specifically sized to be compatible with smaller interfaces (15” ports or larger) and the higher loads of a multi-manifest or small launch vehicle environment. SoftRide is a qualified system that can be integrated quickly into your analysis and physical stacks with minimum effort and maximum positive impact.
Small Satellite Solar Array Drive Assembly
The small new satellite Solar Array Drive Assembly (SADA) was designed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing small satellite market. It is a lightweight and compact power solution for positioning solar array panels. It is comprised of modular components, allowing modifications to meet mission-specific requirements, and reducing lead times. The world-class mechanisms team offers a variety of solar array drives, propulsion positioning gimbals, electric propulsion gimbals, antenna positioner mechanisms, docking and release mechanisms, and specialty payload positioners.
With numerous cutting-edge resources to support the New Space Market, this team offers a tailored experience with high level leadership and support for spacecraft and a launch vehicle project. Developments include, motor controllers and power systems, actuators and mechanisms, propulsion components and feed systems, structures and vibration control products, hydraulic and electro-mechanical linear actuators for Thrust Vector Control (TVC) and Surface Control, propulsion components and feed systems, and payload isolation/structures. Our New Space group aims to be an agile and collaborative partner for launch, exploration, and small satellite ventures.
