Moog Announces Genesys’ Glass Cockpit Certification on Pilatus PC-7

Upgrade Solution for PC-7 and Beechcraft T-6A Aircraft

Mineral Wells, TX (Oct 1, 2024) – Genesys Aerosystems, a Moog company, announced today that Genesys Aerosystems’ Approved Model List (AML) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for its EFIS glass cockpit upgrade has been completed and issued by the FAA. The first aircraft equipped with the Genesys Avionics Suite™ and flown in support of the STC is a Pilatus PC-7 operated by Genesys. The AML STC allows additional similar aircraft, such as the Beechcraft T-6A Texan (Model 3000) trainer, to be added upon completion of company ground and flight tests, without additional involvement from the FAA.

The Genesys Avionics Suite covered by the STC utilizes the same avionics components currently used in the US Navy’s new TH-73 “Thrasher” training helicopter, the US Army’s Grob G-120TP trainers, the Aero L-39NG jet trainer, and the Colombian Air Force’s Embraer EMB-312 Tucanos, along with over 35 other military training and special-mission fleets around the world.

The avionics suite consists of two large-format flight displays per crew station, solid-state sensors, aircraft radios, and digital engine/systems monitoring. Each display in the suite includes Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS), Flight Management System (FMS), Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS), digital flight recording, integrated voice warning system, and radio management, resulting in dual redundancy for each pilot across all critical functions. The OASIS™ open-architecture hardware and software design facilitates future growth by allowing the end customer to easily integrate new devices and display symbology independently from Genesys Aerosystems.

“With proven FAA certification, Level-A software, and MIL-STD qualification, this system is ideal for military flight training applications,” says Genesys DER Test Pilot Chad Howard, who conducted the certification flight testing. “The AML STC eliminates risk for adding additional similar models such as the Beechcraft Model 3000 aircraft. With almost two decades of field service history globally, the symbology has been optimized for these missions, and the real advantage is how fleet operators can create custom display symbology to meet their needs without affecting certification of the displays.”

The PC-7 installation was completed by long-time Genesys industry partner Borsight, based in Ogden, UT.
