Moog Announces Milestone for Leonardo AW109SP “Da Vinci” Helicopter
Rega’s AW109SP with Genesys cockpit avionics achieves first helicopter RNP AR 0.3 approval
Rega’s AW109SP with Genesys cockpit avionics achieves first helicopter RNP AR 0.3 approval
This historic milestone was achieved by Swiss Air-Rescue Rega for operations at the Interlaken Hospital as part of its Advanced Rotorcraft Instrument Flight Rules Operation in Switzerland (ARIOS) project. The operational approval was given by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA).
Based on this successful effort, Rega plans to continue its effort to achieve approach and departure procedures approval down to RNP AR 0.1 at Interlaken and other Swiss hospitals. This will make it possible to further improve flight procedures and approach minima in challenging environments.
The Genesys avionics in the AW109SP includes the IDU-450 EFIS suite of PFD and MFD displays with integrated Synthetic Vision System (SVS), Highway-In-The-Sky (HITS), Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS), Open Architecture System Integration Symbology (OASIS), and other advanced functionality.
“Genesys is proud to support Rega in its groundbreaking achievement, and we look forward to future milestones together in low-visibility approach and departure capabilities,” said Jamie Luster, Director of Sales and Marketing at Genesys Aerosystems.“
