Genesys Avionics Suite-equipped U.S. Navy trainer fleet excel in modernized flight training.
In early 2020, the U.S. Navy selected the Leonardo TH-119, later designated as the TH-73A, an advanced Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) rated single-engine platform with a modernized glass cockpit from Genesys, to replace its aging fleet of TH-57B/C Sea Rangers. As the new primary training helicopter, it produces the next-generation of rotary-wing and tilt-rotor pilots for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and allied nations.
The TH-73A Advanced Helicopter Training System utilizing the Genesys Avionic Suite represents a pivotal modernization in Navy helicopter training technology, shifting from analog to digital avionics, and is projected to serve the U.S. Navy through 2050 and beyond. With robust and feature-rich Genesys digital avionics, the Thrasher excels in every maneuver within the Navy's training program and has expanded the training syllabi while upgrading fundamental flying activities to more modernized operational training. More than 200 Student Naval Aviators (SNAs) have completed the TH-73A syllabus to date.
“The Genesys Avionics Suite was the first cockpit suite in recent history to be certified on a single engine aircraft designed for IFR training,” says Jamie Luster, Director of Sales and Marketing at Genesys Aerosystems. “We are excited to support our long-term partner Leonardo on the monumental accomplishment of delivering 100 aircraft to the US Navy.”
